Jokowi undecided on national exams' moratorium

Muhadjir Effendy, Culture and Education Minister, has given a proposal to President Joko Widodo. The contain of that proposal is the president of Indonesia to conduct a moratorium on the national exams, but the proposal has not approved by Joko Widodo. Jokowi said that the proposal was still being processed and it had not been discussed in any Cabinet meetings.

He said a future Cabinet meeting that had yet to be scheduled would decide whether the proposal would be implemented or not. He added that If the national exams were still needed, as they needed to check the standard of education quality, they might still keep the exams. Muhadjir also said the moratorium on the national exams could be started next year.

I agree with Jokowi statement that national exam can check the standard of education quality. We can know which area has low quality of education and high quality of education, so that the government can pay more attention to those areas which has low quality of education.

  1. I don't have any idea about this news. National Exam is useful to know students' academic ability in Indonesia. But honestly, I never like that exam since I am always nervous when I have to do that.
