What Happened to the Tecopa Pupfish?
The Tecopa
Pupfish lived in the Mojave Desert of water in South and North Tecopa Hot
Springs. They were small and ate larva. The fish was first brought to the public eye in 1848
by a man named Robert Miller. The pupfish is of the genus Cyprinodon, or pupfish. The fish
was heat tolerant which was a good thing given the area in which is lived in.
The Tecopa pupfish became extinct in or around 1970. In that year, there was a reasearch to find this
fish, but nothing showed up in the search and no one
has seen one since. Before that, in 1950s there was bathhouses which became popular in the area. It boasted hot springs that people flocked to in
order to enjoy a nice soak. That caused the fish to be pushed downstream.
We humans should
responsible to save the creatures, animal and plants, around us, moreover for
animals and plants which become extinct. We should not destroy the nature,
because it is a place for them to growth and breed. We need think twice when we
are in the nature.
